Genevieve CP#2

Friday I met with Daniel from Venezuela.  He told me about a traditional Venezuelan dish that made me hungry.  It sounded very good and it contained plantains and black beans along with rice and some other ingredients.  He's an economist and he has actually published a theory.  I am quite interested in some of the topics he studies and I asked him if he'd encountered the most current literature on the link between a country's wealth and its level of and gendered equality.  Then Daniel told me about domestic violence in the Dominican Republic, a country that he is connected with.  I asked if shelters existed there to assist survivors and he said no.  He explained how common it was to read about men murdering women in the news paper.  While shelters are a relativity new thing here in the U.S., they have been around long enough to have saved countless lives.
