Jaclyn CP#2

Yuma and I met for dinner tonight. We were supposed to play tennis, but with Florida summers come rainy weather. I took him to Momo’s pizza because it’s always a good place to have a relaxed conversation, and who doesn’t like pizza bigger than their head? Definitely an important part of getting to know each other is through pictures. I showed him a video from my hometown of the beach by my house and a picture of my dog. He showed me a picture of his dog and his girlfriend. He said he really missed everyone back home, and this made me consider the people I would be leaving behind when I travel. I noticed that he definitely has trouble understanding me at times, and finds it difficult to pronounce ‘f’ sounds. I know when he can’t understand me because he laughs politely. Hopefully the weather will be better the next time we try to play tennis.

  1. I've noticed, with my conversation partner and tutee, they'll laugh politely to me as well. I realized I have speak more slowly and enunciate clearly for them to understand what I'm trying to say. Even when there is a language barrier, I think it's quite fun to try to figure out what the other person is saying--we both end up laughing it off.
