Pam CP#1

A sure fire way to get a mom talking is to ask about her children.

That is how Hwasil Lee and I spent the first hour of our conversation partner discussion.  Hwasil has two children, a son 5 years old and a daughter 3 years old. Moms can always find a point of mutual interest to discuss when it comes to little ones.  She is worried about her son’s ability to communicate since they just arrived from Korea and therefore he has few English skills at this point.  He is signed up for public school near their home for the fall but Hwasil is worried he might have a hard time interacting with the other children since his English is not strong yet.

Hwasil is a hesitant speaker but was excellent at communicating with me.  She understood everything I asked and took the lead to pepper me questions about schools and curriculum for her son.

  1. It's great that you two immediately connected! I'll be meeting my first CP tomorrow for lunch. All I know for now is that she likes Italian, haha. (:

  2. Pam, I think that you will boost Hwasil's confidence and comfort level in using English for communication. She'll be more ready for the fall semester because of you!
