Chris CP#3

Yesterday I met with my third CP, Kwon. We decided to meet for dinner at Pho7, but we discovered that their power was out once we got there. Instead we went to Momos for some pizza.

Kwon is from South Korea. One of his friends from Korea was visiting Florida, so he came to eat with us. After ordering our food, we sat down and started talking. Kwon studies sports science so the conversation drifted naturally towards our favorite sports. This was also aided by the fact that the women's soccer World Cup was blasting over the TVs. Turns out that he played my favorite sport back in Korea: ice hockey! Since I'm going to Korea next year it was awesome finding out that they have quite a few ice hockey teams to watch.

Once our food came, Kwon and his friend cut their pizza into thirds so that we could all share each other's slice. Sharing food is a big part of Korean culture and I was happy to share mine as well. This is actually something that my group of friends does quite often. It's cool to sample a bit of everything instead of having one dish to yourself. As his friend put it, "sharing is caring!" Haha.

Over dinner we talked a lot about food and the different cities he had visited since living in Florida. Kwon was also happy to give me a lot of information about Korean culture since I will be headed there soon. We decided that next time we meet up we will try to have Pho together since our original plan was a bust.

  2. I work at Pho 7! My friend told me about when the power went out! I think they closed early that day due to the storm also!

Really cool about the ice hockey, that'll make your transition easier! At least you'll have a hobby over there and a way to bond with the locals!

I wish I was good at a sport, it's the perfect way to make friends!
