Pam CP # 3 Hwasil

Had a wonderful time with Hwasil on Saturday trying to explain why the power went out in Tallahassee after the storm on Tuesday.  She was shocked that in her apartment complex the power went out and stayed off over night.  And she was even more surprised when she arrived at her CIES class at FSU on Wednesday and there was still no power at the school.  Apparently in Korea, power either never or very rarely goes out.  And if it does go off, it is just for a brief moment.  She was even more shocked when I shared with her, my power didn't come on until the next night. She was horrified for me.

After sorting through the power issue, I was delighted that Hwasil had several questions prepared to ask me.  I'll share one of her questions because it is a good example of why each day  I learn more about the nuances of the English language through the eyes of these foreign students.  Hwasil wanted to know what is the difference between:  appointment, meeting, engagement and promise.  She was so appreciative that I was patient to answer and explain each question.
