Pam TS # 5 Zoe

Imagine a house with 32 bathrooms.  Now in that house add 11 bedrooms and a dining room that can seat more than 100 people at one time  ( not sure I have that many friends I'd have over to dinner) .  This house isn’t located in some remote castle area of France or owned by a Russian oligarch but every person in the United States.  Anyone can visit it too.  The house is the White House, home to the President of the United States.

Zoe had great fun learning about the White House through a word puzzle and math game. She loved hearing that there are 32 bathrooms!!! We also learned that the White House has been home to every US President except George Washington and that it can be a fun place to live too.  The White House has a swimming pool, a movie theater and a bowling alley.

To continue and maybe help the girls catch up on American culture, Jennifer and I played “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” using the very simple questions.  Rina surprisingly knew several of the quiz questions right off the bat- an example:  “What color is Clifford?”   ( in case your don't know he is a BIG red dog) and Zoe started using some ‘context clues’ to answer some of the questions.  Jennifer and I both worked with them to help them understand how to think through some of these questions and use other words to figure out the right answer.  In this game, it is multiple choice so clues are given to figure out the correct answer.

The hour passed quickly as always and at the end of the hour, Zoe’s mother had a treat for all of us.  She had made homemade Korean dumplings. They were delicious- fresh and a perfect way to end my day since it was dinner time.

  1. Pam,

How incredible! You and Jennifer are awesome with the educational games! Who Wants to Be a Millionaire would be so fun! It was my favorite game show growing up! Did the girls know what the game was already?
