For the fifth conversation partner meeting, I met up with
Boram and her son Astin, along with Jennifer and Jacki at the Automobile
Museum. We walked around and looked at all the antique cars and boats and
talked about American culture and how America has a big car culture. Astin
really seemed to enjoy everything, the Batmobiles and the guns in particular. It
was interesting discussing and comparing these certain aspects of Korean and
American culture. One aspect that I felt was particularly interesting was the
guns, since it’s illegal to own a gun in Korean and so they don’t have a big
gun culture. Whereas, in America, banning guns is a highly controversial topic.
