Joel TS#9

For this tutor session I went with Jennifer and observed her and Pam tutor Rina and Zoe. It was quite a different experience from what I was used to, as I had only tutored adults so far. I found that tutoring children requires a totally different approach from tutoring adults. While we were waiting for Pam to arrive, we started off with a story. Each of us would write a sentence building up as crazy story as we went along. I remember that Jennifer was turned into a turtle and eaten by a monster but knew taekwondo and so she was able to fight her way out. We also sang some short songs from a book that Pam had brought. After that, we played a state game and then the kids had to fill out a crossword type puzzle with the states based on the nickname for the state. The kids then talked about some of the places that they had gone to on a trip that they had taken around America. Their English was surprisingly good. I found the experience to be quite enjoyable and I learned a lot from it.
