This morning, Rina and I joined Pam and Zoe in the living room to play "The Scrambled States of America." Dude, I need to look back on my geography, because this was a challenging game for all of us (except Pam, she knew her stuff)! But like Pam said in her recent TS post, it made a lot of us think about syllables and vowels, as well as the capitals of all the states. Some of the nicknames were fun to learn as well.
Before I knew it, the hour flew by. Just before we ended our group session, Pam suggested we take whatever was left over of our cards and ask questions (like what's the capital of this state or the nickname of that state) to each other to test our memory (which I definitely lacked). Like, who knows the nickname of Pennsylvania? I certainly don't. It was a great way to incorporate some American knowledge though, because I'm sure they'll have to learn all fifty states and their capitals in elementary school. At least, that's what I did.
Whoever answered correctly would receive a point. At first, Rina couldn't answer any of the questions we posed and she was trying her best to hide her dejection. So when it came to her turn, I suggested if we couldn't come up with an answer, Rina would receive a point. She ended up in second place (I think), after Pam (of course) who came in first, and Zoe came in third. My memory is foggy, but I'm pretty sure I was last, but it was nice to see Rina smiling and boasting. Zoe pointed out I should've known most of the states and their capitals and nicknames.
Shame on me!
