In honor of the 4th of July weekend, (and I found another new game from my
children's closet), Zoe, Rina, Jennifer and I played " The Scrambled
States of America" game today. The
game is much about luck in so far as you draw cards, but it makes you think of
words, how many syllables are in a word, you learn the names of the capitals,
and the nicknames of the states. One card
question even asked you which state is not located on the ocean. So with little maps in front of us on the
floor for reference, we located states and played a loud game for about 45
minutes. Before we put the cards away,
we tested each other to see who remembered the capitals or nicknames of the
states. It was truly a test for all of us.
This is definitely a competitive family.
Before leaving, Zoe made her presentation to the group of us about
what she would do if she was the 'boss' of President Obama. Her first sentence was "I will ask President Obama to protect
us better". Zoe had not prepared
much more, so her homework for Wednesday will be to write in complete sentences her
reasons and a explanation for her comments.
