Bruce TS#12

TS #12 Do-jun

To reward Do-jun for his interview session, I made this session very fun. We practiced English idioms and at the end we went over some jokes. Here is a sample of some of the idioms we covered.

I explained the idiom and then gave Do-jun a few examples of situations one might use them in. Then I asked him to try to think of his own situations where he could express the idiom. He was very creative!

After we went through idioms, we read some jokes together. I googled “EFL” jokes, so they were all appropriate for a classroom setting. I would ask Do-jun to read a joke aloud to me, and then after we finished laughing, I asked him to explain the joke. To explain why something is funny requires an in-depth comprehension and good explanation skills. It also requires exercising vocabulary over a wide range of topics, ranging from pets to a courtroom.
