It was our last day. David seemed more eager to be done with it than to learn from the lesson. We picked up Poe again and Jordan was observing us. Despite the obscure methods of Poe's writing David seemed to get more of the story. However, we did only get through a couple pages. His retention and understanding needs a lot of work. I was meticulous with making sure he understood what he read and I was trying to be Socratic about the way the lesson panned out always trying to ask him questions, giving him context and clues so that he can come to the conclusion. Jordan even helped me exemplify some words in examples to get David to understand what they meant. I'm proud to say that though we didn't get through a lot of the story I think I have instilled a habit of looking up words when not understood in David. Hopefully he will continue this way.
