Kamesh TS #8

I met Matthew during the evening on August 3rd to continue our tutoring. I decided beforehand that the best course of action would be to try and improve his reading comprehension skills. The reason was not that Matthew had a hard time with his reading comprehension, but that he had developed a few bad trends when reading that I hoped to fix. To pique his interest, I first gave him a reading comprehension activity about the great soccer player Lionel Messi. He enjoyed the reading and I worked to fix his bad habits. These include reading too fast, reading over small words, and his pronunciation when he doesn't know the word. WE continued with more passages about sports, including some about the world cup. I read every passage with him slowly in order to get him to focus on every word in the sentence, and would make him sound out words slowly when he didn't know them to help his pronunciation.
