Kamesh TS #4

Matthew and I met once again on a Friday, a week from our last two hour meeting. After complaining to his mother, she decided that it would be best not to do any more tutoring sessions longer than one hour. Today, we went back to reading exercises for Matthew's tutoring. He has a workbook that his mother always gives me in order to do a few exercises; and since I hadn't really used it before, I dedicated the entire tutoring session to reading comprehension exercises from the book. We read two short passages about the frontier explorer John Colter and answered questions from it. I noticed that Matthew reads everything very fast, and glances over many words instead of saying them. To combat this, I made sure that I read aloud with him from then on, slowing down his pace so that he reads all of the words. Matthew didn't particularly enjoy this but I knew it was a skill that he needed to practice.
