Today I observed my first class at CIES. The class was grammar 1A with Candace Walters. When I entered the class everybody greeted me with the utmost courtesy. I was a little nervous at first because all the students were wondering why I was in the class. I participated in the activity, which made me feel more comfortable talking with the students.
The activity emphasized simple present tense, as well as "to be" verbs. We put pictures of jobs on our backs and had to ask simple questions to figure out what our careers were. Candace was a very good grammar teacher! She knew all the terms well and answered every question with confidence. I hope I can be as confident as her when I start to teach.
After the class, I asked Candace some questions about her activity. She said she plans the activities out a week in advanced. She must put a lot of her own time into making the class run smoothly. This class observation taught me about how students interact with each other and the teacher as well.
Dylan,
ReplyDeleteI had the same feelings about my observation. Mrs. Vicky was very confident and well-spoken during her lesson. I'm sure that when you have your first teaching experience in a classroom it will be nerve-wracking, but after the first week you will be able to have confidence. At least that's what I hope will happen for me!
