After class on Thursday I met my first conversation partner Henrique. He said he would like to do something outside, so we decided to meet at Lake Ella for food truck Thursday.
We found a good spot on the lawn in front of the band that was playing. Henrique is from Brazil and speaks Portugese. His English was very good and he told me he was taking the higher level classes at CIES. We talked about ourselves and where we both grew up. I found out that he is a lawyer back in Brazil, but he and his wife moved here to get better at English.
Partway through our discussion, Henrique asked me if they sold beer at the event. I told him there were only food trucks and beer was BYOB. But I had come prepared! So we toasted to new friends- Saúde! We ended up talking for about an hour and a half about music, movies, sports, food and getting used to life in a new city. I really enjoyed getting to know my first CP!
