I met with Nayun for a second time last Friday at 10:00 AM. She started out very shy once again, which surprised me. This session she warmed up to me quite quickly. I had a reading worksheet for her and we read the passage together. Every word she did not know I underlined and went over with her.
After about thirty minutes, Nayun started to lose concentration. When I noticed this I changed the activity to a vocabulary list I had for her.I knew she loved drawing from the first session, so I incorporated that into the second activity. The activity was for me to show her the word and explain it to her. Once she had a firm grasp on the definition, we both would draw a small picture to make the definition stick in her mind. We continued this activity for the rest of the session.I believe Nayun got better at reading and increased her vocabulary by the end of this session.
