I observed TV with Nayun on Friday, June 26th. I instantly noticed that Nayun was way more comfortable with TV than me. This may be due to the fact that they are both girls, but no matter what the case, TV is very good at working with children.
To start the session, TV took Nayun to find some books in the library that Nayun would like to read. They read the book together and TV seemed to be assessing Nayun's reading ability as they went. Nayun seems to have a very high reading level. TV was very good at changing the activity often to keep Nayun interested at all times. I need to use what I learned from TV in my sessions with children.
Next, TV had an activity where Nayun had to fill in words to finish a letter to a person of Nayun's choice. The words were mostly words that Nayun did not know, but could figure out using context clues.
Their last activity was writing a short story. TV and Nayun took turns writing and reading each sentence. Nayun really liked this activity because it allowed her to be creative and silly. Overall, TV had a great tutor session with Nayun. I believe I learned a lot from how TV interacted with the child.
That last activity sounds like a fun idea. I might try that out with Rina next time!
