After class yesterday James and I left to get some dinner only to find out his truck was towed. So we decided to call to find out where his truck was and then call a cab to get him to his truck. As we waited for the taxi we sat down and talked about Panama. The cultural differences, that at this point I'm quite familiar with, but he's not, were fun to discuss. Mainly manners, and emotions.
I was explaining that when I first moved up to the States, the thing that most shocked me was how nice the cashiers were, and when someone asks you how you are, they expect a real answer, not just "I'm fine, and you?"
Finally we talked about all the emotion involved in latino daily life. In Panama everything is met with a lot of emotion, especially when talking, you can't just tell a story, it's a whole show. Especially talking with their hands, always moving.
