Kamesh CO #2
My second class observation was with Ross Kozloski on July 27th. His class was a reading class, so I was expecting comprehension exercises would come into play with the teaching. However, it turned out to be a final exam day for the students, much to my dismay. Ross handed me a copy of the test that he was giving so that I might be able to learn how to give a test in such a manner. His test was a mix of exercises that he made himself and things that he saw were effective on tests for other teachers. I noticed as well that he only had one section of reading comprehension, meaning with comprehension questions. He had other exercises that would test how well they were reading, but with a different aspect to evaluate the students. For example, he would tell them to read the sentence and figure out what wasn't right, and have the students fix it by rewriting the passage. After the test, he made his students read a short version of the book White Fang by Jack London.
