Today, I observed Candice’s Group 1 Grammar class. They
started off the class with a bell ringer that required them to answer a
question using the simple past, which they were reviewing in class. They had to
talk about the class trip they had taken the week before. After giving the
class some time to write, they came back together as a group to discuss their
answers. Candice then moved on to the
simple future tense that they were currently working on in class. She played
a movie: The Book of Life. She discussed the Mexican culture found in the
movie, and would pause the movie to discuss new vocabulary. After showing the
beginning of the movie, the class had to make predictions of what would happen
next using the future tense.
