Last week, I got to squeeze for half an hour in Pam's session and play Scrabble with Pam's tutee Manal, my tutee Salem and my CP Abeer. I was impressed by how much they were learning and how competitive everyone was.
Pam was very interactive with everyone and made sure if they filled in a word, they would have to spell and pronounce the word. Games are definitely a great ice-breaker and a fun way of learning new words and their meanings. I remember one of the words they filled out was "dove," and none of them knew exactly what a "dove" was, but Abeer pointed out it was a brand. We all laughed because it was true, but then Pam explained to everyone that a "dove" was a type of bird that is often symbolized for peace.
It was a great session.
