Sean TS #7
In
relation to the last two games I played in my previous tutoring session which
included “Charades” and “Pictionary”, I introduced a new game which was “Catchphrase”.
Catchphrase is the attempt to describe a word given to you with a small window
of time before the buzzer goes off. This
adds intense pressure for describers to use as many descriptive terms, situations,
names, and hints or else they don’t get a point. Hye-Jeong is usually immensely
shy when it comes to speaking. The only times I have heard her speak was during
Charades and Pictionary in a long span of time. Catchphrase was of no
exception, this time being the most I’ve heard her speak. I was very proud and
happy to witness her usage of English and excitement in doing so. Both of the
girls did extremely well and I had fun describing some words, as well as
holding my tongue to give the girls a chance to guess each other’s words. I
really enjoy Catchphrase as it really stresses bringing out all the knowledge
in your brain about the given word. It also supports the idea of how teaching a
subject is the best way to learn. Since the girls were describing and thus “teaching”
us their word, they in turn end up learning more about their word than we do.
