Marco TS#2

After some discussion with Bruce we decided to sync up the lessons and make David read "The Giver" one of our favorite books of ours at his age. This session was difficult. In the hour we had together we read and understood half of the first chapter, about 7 pages. He became frustrated because he couldn't read it and understand it easily, I became frustrated because he simply wasn't making an effort. After our lesson I decided that if it really was too difficult for him work with "The Giver" that perhaps an easier book could be better suited for him. We went in search for another book and he chose "H.I.V.E." some book about secret agent bees. I told him that this book was acceptable to work with if he read the first chapter and gave me a summary on it by the next day, the print was big, the pages only half filled with text and it was 26 pages; on top of that the reading level was far below his. If he did not do the assignment, we would work with "The Giver".
