Today I decided to
garner interest and motivation from Hye-Jeong and Hye-In via treats for prizes.
I wrote a fun short story myself that included the two girls as princesses who
were trying to steal candy from the generous monster, who was me. I would
incorporate 3-4 mistakes in each paragraph that the girls would have to find,
and if done so correctly, received Korean candy as prizes. I included mistakes
such as using past tense words instead of future tense words, plural vs.
singular usage, and even easy mistakes such as double words (once upon a time
time in a …..). Having a carrot at the end of the stick worked wonders on the
girls despite the oncoming sugar rushes which influenced them greatly, although
it was manageable. I tried to discuss the mistakes in detail to the girls so
they would understand why it was wrong or why they shouldn’t read so fast.
