CO #1
I went in the morning, 9am, to observe Ms. Sohan’s reading class. It was for lower level students. After class had started, I was offered a seat at the front table, and a student let me look at her workbook. I tried explaining that wasn’t necessary, but…I’m not sure my game of charades that got across.
Ms. Sohan covered a few pages of the workbook they had. They students read a story, about a family, specifically, describing what members of that family were like. The students were to answer the questions in the workbook. Who is Sally’s friend? How many sisters does Sam have? What’s kind of pet does Bill have? What occupation is the father employed in?

After a short while of that, the students wrote their
answers on the board. Ms. Sohan called them up. Occasionally, there was a
mistake, or a spelling or grammar error, and the instructor clarified. She
explained what the error was, and then went off on the board to talk about it
for a little while. By the end of class, we had covered a lot of
ground—articles, prepositions, and other grammar rules.
She routinely checked comprehension of the material by asking questions, and then went over any parts students seemed to have difficulty with, as a class.

I thought it was an informative classroom observation.
