TV TS#6

Today was my first day back with Nayun for two and a half weeks because she was out of town. I was very excited because she's always eager and responsive, but this was not the case. From the beginning  I could tell she was feeling hyper. She began walking around her seat and doing stretches etc. I decided to ask what she wanted to do. I went down a list of topics we could go over and when I said spelling she got very excited. I chose a book of hers to quiz her on some of the more difficult words. She did not like this technique. She wanted me to come up with my own words to make her spell.

I decided to go over the days of the week again because she has trouble with "Tuesday, Thursday, and Wednesday." I noticed that if she has any doubt about the spelling she will refuse to spell the word. She gets very hard on herself when she messes up. I try to counteract this by using encouraging words such as "Good job!" or "Perfect!"

We were able to get through the days of the week twice and we did some combination sounds such as "th," "ph," and "ch." About three minutes before our session was over, a family friend walked into the library with Nayun's dad and she perked up and starting bouncing around her chair. This was the conclusion of our session.
