Pinar can not get enough English practice. If we could she would make us study all day long. Today, Saturday, July 18th, we met at 12:30 and were supposed to finish at 1:30 but by the time I got home it was 2:15. We studied the word "as" and its similarities to "like". Also we went over the word "would". I had a lot of material that helped Pinar with as vs. like but would was trickier. Pinar did not understand the meaning of would so she found it difficult to use. We talked back and while I tried to find a good explanation. Finally I found something she could relate to. Pinar understood the word "could" so I taught her the idiom "I would if I could". I explained "would" is very similar to "could" but with a positive mood attached to it. She finally understood and I felt so relieved.
At the end of the session she asked me if I could text her 10 words a day that I think she should know! That seems simple, but when you add in examples and definitions it will take some time each day. However, how can I say no to someone who wants to learn so bad. I obviously agreed and I started today.
