Pam TS # 5 Zoe

Tongue twisters and fun American nursery rhymes were the themes of Zoe and Rina’s session on Sunday. We sang traditional songs like She Will be Coming Round the Mountain, This Old Man and Mary Had a Little Lamb. Surprisingly, they had heard some of the songs but were not really familiar with them. They very much enjoyed learning them and singing them again by themselves.  I realized that many of them were truly a part of our cultural and to understand something like Eenie Meenie Miney Mo on the play yard might be important to fit in.

Zoe pulled out her kindle and shared her favorite tongue twisters with us which became a moment of laughing with a little learning mixed in.

Peter Piper Pick a Peck was the first tongue twister we practiced. We each said it out loud to the group, laughed at each other and did it again.  Zoe’s favorite is - How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood.  These were lines I had learned as a child, so I was pretty good at keeping up with them, but Zoe had a group of others I had never seen. This native English speaker did not shine.
